FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions Q1 - What is "joinery design" ? A1 - Joinery Design is also known as CAD Drafting / CAD Drawing, Setting Out, Space Planning. We use computer CAD software to plan the use of space which would incorporate joinery in the design like reception desks, staircases, shop fitting.Q2 - You are based in the South of England will you travel to see us in the North of England ? A2 - Generally we can answer most queries by email or telephone but we are happy to attend design meetings if our travel costs are covered Q3 - What services can MSC Joinery Design offer? A3 - MSC Joinery design can offer all aspects of joinery setting out, including all stages from design intent through to working drawings. Q4 - Are you an architect? A4 - No MSC Joinery Design are not architects, we are joinery draughtsman and setter outs. However we do work closely with architects on joinery solutions, we produce working drawings using AutoCAD 2010 and by using various methods of CAD drafting can produce the details you need to make your project succeed. Q5 - What types of materials can you work with? A5 - MSC Joinery Design have over 20 years experience within the joinery industry and in that time we have worked with numerous materials such as stainless steel, glass, all kinds of granite and stone, man made solid surfaces such as corian and LG hi-macs. Q6 - Apart from CAD Drafting, what else do you do? A6 - We produce approval drawings initially, once they have been approved for manufacture we then book the items off and produce all necessary production documents such as cutting cheets, veneer schedules, requisition sheets and material lists. Q7 - Will you carry out site surveys? A7 - Yes, at MSC Joinery Design we are happy to carry out site visits and survey for the joinery items. Q8 - Will you co-ordinate with other trades? A8 - Yes, as most joinery usually has other trades connected to it as in mechanical or electrical (M & E) services or even something as simple as a few lights we will set out the joinery with the connected trades to ensure a problem free solution to your joinery project. Q9 - Will you project manage the whole project? A9 - Yes, If you employ the services of MSC Joinery Design from the outset we can attend site meetings, discuss requirements with the clients, suggest solutions around problem areas and all that is before we start to draft anything up. Q10 - Who do MSC Joinery Design work for ? A10 - We work for joinery companies, interior fit out companies, shopfitters, architects, metalworkers and interior designers. Q11 - What kind of things do you design ? A11 - We will basically design anything that is made predominately from wood, such as reception desks, wall panelling, tea points and kitchens, coat cupboards and wardrobes. Q12 - Are you qualified ? A12 - Yes, the draughtsmen that work for MSC Joinery Design have all served a full apprenticeship and hold City and Guilds qualifications in purpose made joinery and AutoCAD Drafting. Q13 - What is your industry experience ? A13 - We have in excess of 20 years experience in the joinery industry and have been setting out joinery for 10 years. Q14 - What software/s do you use ? A14 - We use AutoCAD 2010 for all our drafting, this enables us to supply drawings to our clients in various formats including .DWG, .DXF, .PDF. Q15 - What are your credit terms ? A15 - Credit terms are strictly 7 days from date of invoice. Q16 - I have an urgent project, can you help me ? A16 - Yes of course, MSC joinery Design are very flexible and will do everything we can to ensure your project is completed on time. Q17 - What is the best way to contact you ? A17 - By telephone is the easiest, although we can be emailed as well, please see our contact us page. Q18 - Can you provide references to back up the quality of your work ? A18 - Yes, please contact us and we will be happy to supply trade references. Q19 - What are your prices / rates ? A19 - Each project is different and our pricing is bespoke. We are happy to discuss your design budget, we specialise in value engineering and understand that everyone has budgets to stick to. Q20 - What are your hours of work ? A20 - Our normal office hours are Monday to Friday 08.00AM - 17.30PM (GMT) emails will be answered outside of these times and we have a 24hr answerphone.
